Jun Kato is a Human-Computer Interaction researcher at AIST, where he works on designing tools for programming interactive media content. He received a Ph.D in Computer Science from The University of Tokyo in March, 2014. Prior to graduation, he worked as research intern at Microsoft Research Asia, Redmond, and Adobe Research Seattle.
He has regularly gained academic recognition such as Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship 2012, ACM CHI 2013/2015 Best Paper Honorable Mention, and HAI 2014 Best Paper Nominee.

Led a team of 3 students. Surveyed previous effort of the industry on home automation and proposed a new business plan with simple prototype implementation.
Implemented an online code reviewing tool to improve the team's productivity.
Implemented a GUI simulator for mobile robots. Made a FTIR multi-touch display, etc.
Designed and made websites from scratch such as UT-Life, SCI and digitalmuseum.
Funded $18,000 for three years ($6,000 for each year) as a research fellow.

Presented TextAlive, a web-based system for creating and editing Kinetic Typography movies with help of automatic lyric-song synchronization and live programming. WISS is the most premier venue for publishing research on interactive systems in Japan.
Presented Sharedo, a web-based interface for sharing tasks between humans and agents.
